Need Vietnam visa for cruise in Mekong

Unread postby Vlak » Thu Mar 20, 2014 2:55 pm

We are doing a Mekong river cruise from Siem Reap to HCM later this year. I applied for our visas at the embassy in Canberra. On the application form I put down our entry date into Vietnam as the day we are to cross the border. Today I read in an information section on the cruise lines web page that the visa should be valid from the day that we arrive in Cambodia and if it is not then this could delay the departure of the boat. This seems very odd to me but I was wandering if anyone who has crossed the border on a cruise has run into a problem. We sent copies of our visa to the agent in Vietnam who we booked through and they have not alerted us to any problem.

Apparently there is something unusual in the website. Vietnam and Cambodia are different countries why they ask for Vietnam visa valid on the day you arrive Cambodia. They might check to see if you have Vietnam visa and valid date because their boat go through border between the 2 countries, do not worry.
