who done successfully for Vietnam visa approval letter?

I am from Australia and have just requested a Pre-Entry Letter For Vietnam Visa via my hotel in Hanoi. The manager is getting this approval letter via the Customs office in Hanoi...all seems to be fine but I am still a little nervous. Has anyone done this successfully? or has anyone encountered any problems in doing it this way?

For those that used a visa approval letter for Vietnam, which website did you use that actually worked? I will be travelling to Vietnam for vacation and heard that the most economical way to get a vietnam visa is to apply online for an approval letter rather than going to the Vietnam Embassy.
