Get vietnam visa from Cambodia

Unread postby Duffel » Wed Aug 20, 2014 10:07 am

Heading to Bangkok next week on route to Vietnam by bus through Cambodia to Vietnam as I want to see Angkor Wat on route. I see that you can only apply for Visa on line if you are arriving by plane to Vietnam. I hope to get a bus to Cambodia and then head on to HCMC. Please, please suggest how I can organise Visa now. I will have passport photos with me but want to wast as little tie as possible,,,,Thanks

You still have time to ask for visa to Vietnam in normal way. Some travel agents can help you obtain visa to Vietnam just in 3-4 days, you only need to give them necessary information and pay fee.

Can this be done? We are not sure of our plans yet and they may change but if we are in Cambodia and decide to go to Vietnam overland can we get a visa while in Cambodia?
Thanks

Yes, you can visit Vietnamese Embassy/ Consulate in Cambodia to ask for an entry visa to Vietnam. However, remember to apply visa about 5-7 days in advance of your entry date to Vietnam as it takes time to process.

Where is better to get a vietnam visa in Cambodia ?
Siem Reap or Phnom Penh. I'm planning to land/river crossing from Phnom Penh to HCMC, so the online application doesn't seem apply to me in this case.
Any budget airlines go from Phnom Penh to HCMC, what's the regular price like, say in late Feb or early March, one way? better to buy it online now, from vietnam air web site or wait till I get to Cambodia? I've read that people had some problem with booking online with both Vietnamair and Lao Airs.
thank you.

No where better, it depend on you schedule. The price from PHN to SGN around $150, you should book in advance.

We've got 3 days to fill from Siem Reap. Thinking of heading back to Phnom Penh and taking a speedboat to Chau Doc or Can Tho to connect to a Bassac Mekong River Cruise??
Any other ideas would be welcome.
Ideally we would like to get onto the Mekong for a night or two.
I read that the Angkor Express boat direct from Siem Reap to Battambang is not a great idea.
Especially since we are travelling with three girls - 14, 11 and 9 years.
After these 3 days we head to KEP.

- You can find information to get Vietnam visa in Phnom Penh at: http://www.vietnam-visa-service.com/myforum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=119977
For airtickets you should book through a travel agent, either in Vietnam or Cambodia. For online booking, Vietnamairlines website seems good.

So I need a Vietnam holiday visa. I'm in Cambodia right now (siem reap). I noticed a travel agent shop selling Vietnam visas for $60. I asked how it works and she said it took 1 day and she would stamp my passport.
Everything I've read talks about VOA. No idea what this place is selling. Anyone know?
Not strictly a VOA question...

Yes, many travel agents in Siem Reap offer Vietnam visa service, fairly quick and cheap. Just check some shops you will find the best one.

Can I easily get a visa for Vietnam whilst in Cambodia?
I will be travelling overland- I will be going to Phnom Penh (2 days)and Shianoukville (5days) - (I will be travelling independently)
Have read that they can be issued - the same day at PP and Shianoukville embassies - has anyone done this recently ?
Thanks in advance
