Visa Extension

Unread postby Piecy » Fri Apr 25, 2014 4:55 pm

I have been trawling through the various postings regarding visa extensions and must say that I am somewhat confused. In the interest of clarity could someone who has in depth knowledge of the subject please answer all of the following questions in relation to extending a single entry 1 month visa to a multiple entry 30 day plus visa.
1. Is it cheaper to arrange an extension to an existing Vietnam Visa whilst in Vietnam or whilst in Cambodia?
2. In Cambodia can extensions be obtained in Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville?
3. What are the time factors and associated costs for effecting the extension in the respective countries through embassies, specifically the above cities and Ho Chi Minh?

Dear All;
Does anyone knows if there is a possibility for extending my tourist VISA once iam in Vietnam? I have called the Vietnam console yesterday and i have found that they only give 2 weeks tourist VISA for Omani Nationality. Plus that, I will not be able to extend it !! So i would like to know if you have any link/website that i can contact and double check if there is any possibility to get an exception.

You can ask hotel receptionist for help. They will check to see if you can extend your visa or not.

My wife and I got our 1 month approval visa letter for multiple entry for visa on arrival the other day. We extended our trip beyond 30 days by a few extra days and now we need to extend our visa. Can we do this in country without staying in one place for 5 to7 days? We are flying in and out of Ho Chi Minh city and only need 3 more days on our visa?

It is hard to extend your visa without leaving your passport for 5-7 days. Some travelers select to be fined at airport as they stay only 2-3 days more. The fee is about 2.000.000 VND (~$100)

Hello Everyone,
I want to get a 3 month Single-entry Visa extension for 2 passports one is Canadian and the other is a Khmer passport.
The present visa are B3, 3 month, multiple entry and expire on 06/10/13.
Where is the best place in Nha Trang (Travel Agent) to get a Vietnam Visa Extension?
How much should it cost for a 3 month, Single Entry Visa Extension?
How long does it take and what is the procedure?
Thanks for your help

You should ask your hotel receptionist for help, they will extend for 1 month more. By regulation it takes 5 working days (1 week) to get it don earlier the fee may be up to $60

Hi everybody.
I'm leaving for Vietnam this March and was planing to stay until mid June. The problem is that the Vietnamese Embassy in Denmark (and I guess other countries) only gives out 3 months visas now. And my stay is for 3 months and 14 days. SOOOOO what do I do? Could I do a border run like in Thailand, and re-enter Vietnam by air to get it extended? Or is there any way possible to stay in Vietnam and get it extended by 14 days?
Any advise??
THANKS GUYS :)

You can extend your staying in Vietnam for 14 more days by renewing your visa when your visa is going to expire in Vietnam. You can do it by yourself or better ask some local travel agents for help.

Hello
I'm off to Vietnam and Cambodia for a month at the end of the year with my girlfriend. It's my first trip to Aisa and I'm very excited about it.
In order to secure a bargain deal for the flights, I bought them months ago, before I'd done any research into tourist visa lengths etc. The result of this is that our stay will be 32 days (12 December to 12 January), flying into and out of HCMC and including a couple of weeks in Cambodia.
I went to the Vietnamese Embassy in London recently to get our visas sorted out and (having done more research by this point) requested multiple-entry visas that would be valid for longer than a single month, to cover the 32 day trip. However the lady at the counter told me that this would not be necessary, as we were going from 12/12/07 to 12/1/08, and this was (apparently) only one month... I didn't feel very happy about this but assumed as an embassy official she knew what she was doing, and so handed over the money for the single month multiple entry visas.
Today I received the visas back through the post, and as suspected, they expire a day short, on 11 January. This gives me a bit of a dilemna, and I would be very grateful for any advice:
1) Do we overstay? There's not much on the internet or in the guidebooks about overstaying vietnamese visas... except to say that it might not be a good idea. Anyone know what the penalties are? Is it like Cambodia (where they apparently charge you a nominal fee for each day overstayed), or is it more serious than that? Should I even be considering it at all?
2) Do we apply for an extension to the visas once in the country? I've read about how you can do this through travel agents. Anyone know how long it's likely to take/how much it will cost?
We will be moving around quite a lot so it would be a bit of a hassle to have to stay in one city longer than planned, waiting for visa extensions to come through ... particularly if the cost is similar to a fine for overstaying one day. That said, I am generally a law-abiding citizen and don't particularly fancy the idea of jail-time for the sake of a few dollars' saving.
Any advice/shared experiences would be most gratefully received...
Thanks
Affel

You should come back to Vietnamese Embassy/Consulate in London to make clear about your situation. Or else, once you are in Vietnam, you can visit Vietnam immigation Department to ask for the visa extention, remember to submit your application 7 days in advance of the expiry date as it will take 5 working days to process. For overstaying, some travelers reported that $5/day is applied, however I cannot find that regulation.
