I am an Australian citizen and travelling from London to Melbourne in July 2014. My flight has a 13.5 hours stop over in Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh International Airport. Do I need a visa if I stay at the airport and do not leave the international lounge?

If you stay inside for your connecting flight and don’t check-out you do not need to have Vietnam visa.
To make sure, you should check with your airline. You need their confirmation that you do not have to check-in again for new flight.
